2 way radios differ from other types of radio in that they are able to both transmit and receive, allowing the operator to talk to other similar radios operating on the same frequency (channel). They are normally used as mobile, stationary base or hand-held devices and can be used in a wide number of settings including schools, shops, security services, police and other emergency services and by taxi companies.
